Terms of Use

These Terms set out the agreement between you and the operator of PRODX for use of the app and website. Please read Sections 6 and 7 — the health and allergen disclaimers — carefully.

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the PRODX app and the prodx.ma website. By creating an account or using PRODX, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use PRODX.

These Terms work alongside the Privacy Policy, which explains how your information is handled.

2. About PRODX

  • PRODX helps you understand packaged food products — their nutrition, ingredients, dietary fit and allergens — in relation to information you choose to provide about your allergies, dietary preferences, health context and goals.
  • PRODX is operated by Hajar El Kabir, an individual developer based in Tangier, Morocco (“PRODX”, “we”, “us”). Contact: support@prodx.ma.
  • PRODX is currently available on Android (version 1.0.0).
  • PRODX provides information to help you make your own decisions. It is not advice (Section 6).

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You need a PRODX account to use most features. You must provide an accurate email address and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement and to consent to processing of your data where you live. PRODX is not intended for direct use by children; a parent or guardian may create child profiles within their own account and is responsible for that content (see the Privacy Policy).
  • You may not create an account for someone else without their authority, or set up an account so that a child appears to be the account holder.

4. Product scanning and information

  • PRODX lets you scan a barcode or search for a product and shows product information drawn primarily from Open Food Facts, together with PRODX’s own analysis.
  • Product information may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Databases lag real life, and manufacturers change recipes, ingredients and packaging without notice.
  • Where information is missing, PRODX shows that it is missing rather than guessing, and a gap is not scored against a product.
  • Always check the current physical packaging for anything that matters to you.

5. Personalized verdicts and scores

  • PRODX generates verdicts (such as “Great choice”, “Think twice”, “Skip this one”), a score, and the reasons behind them, by applying fixed, deterministic rules to the product information available and the profile information you provided.
  • These outputs are informational. They depend on the accuracy and completeness of both the product data and what you entered, and different inputs produce different results.
  • No artificial intelligence and no human reviewer decides your verdict; the same inputs always produce the same result.
  • A verdict is not an instruction, professional advice, or a guarantee.

6. Health and nutrition disclaimer

  • PRODX provides general informational guidance about food products and nutrition. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietetic or other professional health advice.
  • PRODX does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified doctor, dietitian or other healthcare professional.
  • PRODX is not for emergencies. If you are having a medical emergency, including a severe allergic reaction, call your local emergency number.
  • Seek professional advice before making decisions about your diet if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or care for someone who does.
  • Do not disregard or delay professional advice because of something you saw in PRODX.

7. Allergies and dietary requirements

  • PRODX’s allergen and dietary checks are based only on the information available to it — the declared ingredients, declared allergens and “may contain” statements in the product data, matched against the allergens and rules you entered.
  • That information can be missing, wrong or outdated, and manufacturers change formulations and shared-line practices without notice.
  • A “Looks Safe” or otherwise positive allergen result is not a guarantee that a product is safe for you. It means PRODX did not find a conflict in the information it had.
  • If you have a serious allergy or a strict dietary or medical requirement, you must read the current physical label and manufacturer information every time and not rely on PRODX. PRODX’s own prompts to check the packaging are part of these Terms.

8. External product information

  • Product data comes primarily from Open Food Facts, which is contributed by its community and made available under its own licence. PRODX does not control it and is not responsible for its accuracy or completeness.
  • PRODX caches product data to operate the app. Nutri-Score, NOVA and Eco-Score are third-party methodologies applied to that data.
  • Your use of Open Food Facts data may be subject to its licence.

9. User responsibilities

You agree to:

  • provide accurate information and keep your profile and account details current;
  • use PRODX for your own personal, non-commercial use;
  • verify anything important against the physical product and professional advice;
  • keep your account credentials secure and tell us of any unauthorised use.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use PRODX unlawfully, or to breach any applicable food, health or consumer law;
  • copy, scrape, resell or redistribute PRODX’s content, analysis or product cache, or build a competing product from it;
  • reverse engineer, interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to PRODX or its backend;
  • upload unlawful, infringing or harmful content, or misuse other people’s data;
  • use PRODX’s outputs to make decisions about any person’s employment, insurance or credit.

11. Intellectual property

  • PRODX — its software, design, text, the PRODX name and logo, and its scoring methodology and presentation — belongs to the operator or its licensors. Using the app does not transfer any of those rights to you.
  • You receive a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the PRODX app for its intended purpose.
  • Product data belongs to Open Food Facts and its contributors and remains under its licence.
  • Feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you.

12. Saved products, meal logs and account features

  • Features such as saved products, Today’s Plate / meal logs, history and child profiles store the information you put into them on your account.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, including for child profiles.
  • You can edit or delete this content, clear your history, and delete your account at any time (Section 15).
  • We may change, limit or remove features (Section 14).

14. Service availability and changes

  • PRODX is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and may update these Terms as the app evolves.
  • If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use PRODX after changes take effect means you accept them.
  • We may set reasonable technical limits (for example on request rates) to keep the service working for everyone.

15. Account termination and deletion

  • You can stop using PRODX at any time and delete your account and its data from Settings → Delete Account, which takes effect immediately (see the Privacy Policy for detail, including backups).
  • If you cannot sign in, you can request deletion at prodx.ma/delete-account.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the service, or where we must for legal or security reasons. Where practical and lawful we will tell you why.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — continue to apply.

16. Disclaimers

  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, PRODX is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
  • We do not warrant that product information or verdicts are accurate, complete, current or error-free, that the app will be uninterrupted or secure, or that it is suitable for any particular dietary, medical or allergen-management purpose.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits anything that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

17. Limitation of liability

  • To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PRODX and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use PRODX.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of PRODX and its operator for all claims relating to PRODX will not exceed the total amount you paid to PRODX, if any, for access to PRODX in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
  • Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in that case liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
  • This section does not affect the carve-outs in Section 16.

18. Governing law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Morocco, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
  • You and the operator agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of Tangier, Morocco for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or PRODX, subject to any mandatory right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings in your place of residence.
